Yariv Geva

Geva paints soul scenaries, as if they were exterior landscapes.

Nature changes constantly - unpredictable and wild.

The physical voyage in which his caracters are depicted in the landscape is an allegory to their mental state.

The landscapes are portrayed with turbulent colors, extreme color contrasts and sporadic splashes. A complete pallet of color and tone is presented to the spectator. The eye attempts to absorb, as well as to contain, all this chaos. The approach towards nature is filled with both admiration and awe at the same time.

“My works are a depiction of human situations in which I attempt to describe the characters’ physical and metaphoric inter-spaces, reciprocity in conjunction with the scenery.
I create the scenario and present not necessarily the moment of climax, but rather the following moment or the preliminary point of no return” (Y.G).

At times the narrative loses its importance and all that is left are the most basic ingredients, shape and color. Ultimately it may seem like a world in which the colors took control of all its images.

Geva uses an image such as a reservoir, a landscape, a character, and leaves it as an icon that becomes a prototype. In the meeting point between the figurative and the abstract, the overfilling colors, in contradiction to naked patches of canvas, he succeeds to create a covert and restrained drama, in which the protagonists are line, color and fantastic canvas stretches. All the organized structure starts to undermine the swarming terrain. This collision, between order and chaos, creates opposite emotional experiences in the same artwork. He leads the eye of the spectator through familiar tangible objects and at the same time plants hints of a riddle and maze, as if to say: I invite you to join me on my personal journey but you are going to have to find your own way.
